An "Out of this World" Honeymoon
Looking for something really different as your honeymoon destination? What about a trip into space? Yes, really. Virgin Galactic, the space travel venture of Virgin Atlantic Airways, is planning to launch their test flight program towards the end of 2007. If the test is successful, they plan to begin regularly scheduled space voyages within a year.
Their "SpaceShipTwo" will travel at three times the speed of sound and achieve a maximum altitude of 360,000 feet above the earth. Space travelers complete three days of training, including zero gravity exercises, before making the flight. Two pilots will accompany six civilian astronaut passengers on each Virgin Galactic voyage.
Space travel does not come cheaply, however. Tickets are $200,000 per person, with a $20,000 deposit required to make a reservation. But, what the heck, it is a once in a lifetime voyage. The flight is expected to last two and a half hours. How much is that per minute?
