Smart Packing Tips for Honeymooners
Packing can be a harrowing experience even for an ordinary trip but when it's your honeymoon and you're leaving the day after the biggest party you've ever thrown in your life (aka your wedding), then packing becomes an even bigger ordeal.
Thankfully, there are some ways to make packing for your honeymoon even easier.
First, make a list. Even if you're not normally an organized person, this is a good time to start changing. You should make a list of everything you need to take with you on your honeymoon. This list should include all of the clothes, accessories, and other items you need. Additionally, you might want to break the list down by suitcases so you'll know exactly what goes into each piece of luggage. This may sound a bit compulsive but when you're rushing around doing last minute packing these lists are going to keep you from forgetting anything.
Second, start packing in advance. Even though you're going to have a lot going on during the weeks before you leave for your honeymoon, you should still find some time to do a little advance packing. This will definitely make it easier for you in the end. Consider packing everything you're not going to need before the honeymoon.
Third, make sure you know what you need to take. Think about what you'd like to do during your honeymoon before you go. Don't wait until you arrive to decide you want to have dinner at a fancy restaurant only to realize you didn't bring appropriate attire. Also, make sure you're prepared for the weather. Also, pack an umbrella in case you encounter some rain on your trip.
Fourth, remember to have your prescriptions filled before your trip. Nothing can ruin a honeymoon faster than a bride realizing she didn't have enough of her birth control pills or having to cut the trip short because someone runs out of their medication. You can go at least a week in advance to get your refills and pack those earlier so you make sure you have everything you need. Make sure you keep those prescriptions in their original bottles, especially if you're flying or crossing any borders.
Fifth, if you're flying, make sure you know what the rules are for airline luggage. If you can't take liquids into the plane, make sure you haven't packed your perfume or shampoo in your carry-on bag, for example. Also make sure you don't try to bring on more carry-on luggage than you're allowed or than you can handle.
Finally, don't forget to pack some first aid products. While we all want our honeymoons to be perfect, that doesn't always happen. Plan ahead by packing aspirin, feminine hygiene products, band-aids, etc. Sample size containers of most of these products can be affordably purchased at almost all retail stores, and these can be packed early.
Packing may not be the most exciting part of planning your honeymoon, but if it's not done well then you can end up forgetting important items or rushing around in a frenzy in those few hours between the reception and departure.
