Traditional Honeymoon Ideas

Honeymoon At Niagara FallsWhen you choose a honeymoon destination, you can literally pick from locations from every corner of the globe. However, some couples want to keep their plans more traditional.

One of the most traditional getaways is Niagara Falls located in Ontario, Canada. Couples can go on a tour of the falls, but there are also other activities to enjoy in the area. Like many tourists spots, the area also has a casino and an IMAX theater, plus some of Canada's best golf courses. A number of quaint bed and breakfast inns can be found near the falls, and couples who want to combine romance and adventure can take a helicopter tour over the falls.

Another traditional honeymoon destination is the Poconos in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Every year about 200,000 couples spend their honeymoons in the Poconos. Many choose to stay in one of the all-inclusive resorts dotted around the area. These resorts are specially designed for couples looking for privacy and romance. Some suites include amenities such as jacuzzis, champange glass whirlpools, and log-burning fireplaces. Most of the resorts also offer outdoor activities, including golf, volleyball, sailing, snow mobiling, and ice skating.

Any of the Hawaiian islands can also be a traditional honeymoon. Obviously, the biggest appeal of this destination is its beautiful beaches and clear water. It's a picturesque backdrop for your first vacation as man and wife. If you don't want to enjoy the view from your hotel or soak up the sun by the ocean, you can also take part in outdoor activities, such as surfing, diving, windsurfing, and hiking.

Honeymoon In ParisIf you're interesting in venturing outside of North America, you may not be able to find anything more traditionally romantic than Paris, France. There are plenty of things to do, including visiting the Eiffel Tower, going through the Louvre, and exploring Notre Dame. Plus, Paris is home to some of the best dining and shopping in the world. Even if you're not interested in seeing the sites, the ambience of Paris is ideal for newly married couples.

Of course, Paris isn't the only spot in Europe that is a traditional honeymoon trip. Venice, Italy is also a popular destination for couples. Just the name of the city conjures up images of watery canals and romantic gondola rides. There's more to explore than just the canals though. You can spend some time in the large piazza, a public area in the heart of the city. You could also explore the fresh fish and vegetable markets, the opera, or the art museums in the city. If you take your honeymoon in late February, you may also be able to participate in Carnevale.

For couples who really just want to get away from everything for a couple of weeks, nothing beats a Caribbean cruise. While these cruises vary, the biggest benefit is that everything you need is included in the price: meals, lodging, even activities. During the day, couples can explore the beautiful scenary of tropical islands while at night being able to relax in a cozy cabin without worrying about being distrubed by the outside world.

These are just a few ideas for traditional honeymoons and don't forget there are lots of non-traditional honeymoon ideas, too. Just make sure the location you select fits your plans and your budget so you can enjoy the experience completely.
